Undergraduate Student, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology

Project Description

As the academic engagement fellow, Sarah will provide critical research and support to encourage student and faculty engagement in climate action. She will work with the faculty Climate Action Champion to convene a working group of natural and social science professionals who will identify evidence-based causal chains linking environmental changes in the ocean an dhuman health, and use this information to highlight potential nature-based interventions that might improve the situation. She will help to convene a seminar and a public panel discussion on the links between climate change and human health. In addition, she will work with the campus Sustainability Office, the Faculty Education and Engagement working group of the Global Climate Leadership Council and UCSC faculty to help make climate neutrality and sustainability part of the curricular and co-curricular experience of UCSC students.
